All Pacific Internet wireless accounts come with a Pacific Internet dialup account.  This gives you a backup connection in case of system difficulties, and also allows you to connect through any of our available access numbers when traveling outside the Ukiah area.

Standard billing is done quarterly in advance, or monthly on a credit card.  A 20% discount is available for customers who wish to make one annual payment.

There is a $50 setup fee with all account classes.  (In this context, "setup" refers to our internal account maintenance and bookkeeping, and does not include setup of customer premise equipment.)

Actual speeds will vary, and are not guaranteed. This is true of any type of high speed broadband connection. The actual throughput rate that a customer receives may be impacted by conditions on the Internet, by local radio conditions (and radio interference), and by the number of customers using the service simultaneously. Pacific Internet will make every attempt to connect the customer's service at the maximum speed available.  However, it is important to note that Wireless service is provided with a best-effort Quality of Service (the same as DSL), and as such, does not guarantee a specific constant or throughput rate.

Equipment Costs

While we have two separate wireless networks running in parallel, each of which requires different equipment, we no longer list prices for equipment to connect to the older Cisco network.  Most of our new customers will be added to our newer Tranzeo network, which has generally lower costs, and the equipment for connecting to the older Cisco access points is no longer readily available.  (Used Cisco Aironet 350-series PCI cards, PCcards for laptops, and Workgroup Bridges are often available for sale on eBay, however.)

Note:  in general, consumer-grade wireless equipment (such as the equipment available at retail stores) will not be sufficient for connecting to our network unless you are located within a few hundred feet of one of our access points.  Most consumer-grade equipment has low-powered (on the order of 35 mW) transmitters.  While this can be used to bridge distances of a mile or more with sensitive external antennas, it can be very tricky to set up and will be more sensitive to radio interference.  The equipment we recommend has transmitters which are 3-8 times as powerful as standard consumer-grade equipment.

While we do not stock Cisco equipment any longer, you can purchase it from third parties (such as eBay) and we will program it for you to connect to our network.  Contact us for a list of what equipment you would need if you choose to go that route.
